Stavatti Military Aerospace is unique in the industry: the majority of new programs are privately sponsored Internal Research and Development, aimed at anticipated defense needs rather than waiting on a requirement to be written around an incumbent. A practitioner of Selling What We Make, Stavatti develops products for Direct Commercial Sale to allied customers of the United States as approved by the State Department-Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.

Founder, President, Chairman and CEO Christopher R. Beskar designed every aircraft in the portfolio. The company is DDTC registered for USML Categories I, II, III, IV, VIII and X, and sells to the DoD and to NATO / allied air forces through State Department approved Direct Commercial Sale.

The Military Aerospace division precedes Stavatti Corporation by five years, when work began on aircraft that evolved into the SM-36 Stalma, the principal program of Stavatti from 1994 through 2005. Civil programs, led by the SM-920 airliner, apply the same clean sheet discipline to commercial aviation: new configuration, advanced metallic structure, and a production plan on American soil.

On 31 October 2020 Stavatti completed the purchase of the former U.S. Army Reserve Center adjacent to Niagara Falls International Airport. The 19.8 acre site serves as Stavatti’s prototype development, production and Low Rate Initial Production center, a 47,000 sq ft aircraft hangar, over 76,800 sq ft of offices, and direct airport ramp, taxiway and runway access.
